Andrew practices in criminal law (trials and appeals) and in regulatory and disciplinary jurisdictions. He has been lead counsel in a significant number of complex District and Supreme Court trials, including trials with multiple accused and multiple complainants.
Andrew has defended charges of murder, importing drugs, selling drugs, possessing firearms, serious assaults, dangerous driving, sexual offences and charges related to organised crime and terrorism. He has appeared both with and against some of the leading silks in the country.
Andrew was admitted to practice in 2006. He worked at two eminent commercial law firms before commencing trial work at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (SA). He joined the Independent Bar in 2015, fulfilling his ambition to fight for and ensure a fair trial for all those he represents, irrespective of the nature of the charges laid against them. Andrew brings a proactive approach to defending his clients and this has led on occassions to the withdrawal of charges prior to trial (see R v DM [2022] pervert the course of justice and R v S [2022] procure child to commit indecent act).
Andrew has also enjoyed teaching law at numerous educational organisations since 2010.
